Frequently Asked Questions
What is PMEGP and who is eligible?
PMEGP (Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme) is a credit-linked subsidy scheme administered by KVIC (Khadi and Village Industries Commission). It provides capital subsidy of 15-35% of project cost (up to Rs. 50 lakhs for manufacturing and Rs. 20 lakhs for service) to new entrepreneurs setting up micro enterprises. Eligibility includes individuals above 18 years with at least Class VIII education for projects above Rs. 10 lakhs in manufacturing.
What subsidies are available for MSMEs in Gujarat?
Gujarat offers several MSME incentives including capital investment subsidy (5-10% of fixed capital investment), interest subsidy (5-7% on term loans), power tariff assistance, EPF contribution assistance, and technology upgradation grants. The specific benefits depend on the district (high-incentive vs. industrially developed areas), enterprise category (micro/small/medium), and type of activity (manufacturing vs. service).
How does CGTMSE help in getting a collateral-free loan?
CGTMSE provides a credit guarantee to banks for loans extended to MSMEs without collateral security. The trust covers up to 75-85% of the loan amount (higher for women entrepreneurs, NE region, and SC/ST). Banks pay an annual guarantee fee to CGTMSE and in return can lend without asking for collateral. Eligible businesses can borrow up to Rs. 5 crores under the scheme.
